First Visit

We are always excited to meet our new patients! Upon arrival, you will be warmly welcomed and asked to complete a patient information form. Alternatively, you can download the form in advance and bring it along with your ID and Medical Aid Card.
We will begin by taking x-rays and photos. The orthodontist will conduct an examination and recommend whether orthodontic treatment is needed. This is your chance to meet the doctor, ask questions, and address any concerns you may have.

PANORAMIC VIEW
This allows us to view the upper and lower jaws simultaneously, analyze all teeth and supporting bone, examine the sinuses, and get a broad view of the jaw joint. It helps detect abscesses, cysts, tumors, the number and position of teeth, and assess the health of the bone.

If treatment is indicated,

Each patient’s orthodontic needs are unique and require personalized attention. The orthodontist will assess your case and create a tailored treatment plan for you.
We will then perform a Complete Orthodontic Investigation, which includes:
– Digital intra-oral and facial photos
– Cephalometric X-rays
– Periapical and hand x-rays (if applicable)
– Impressions for study models

CEPHALOMETRIC VIEW
This x-ray of the entire head and profile helps us measure approximately 50 different areas, allowing us to create a growth analysis (for children), classify facial types, predict outcomes without treatment, and consider alternative treatments.

OTHER X-RAYS
Periapical view: A series of intraoral radiographs to assess the gums and teeth.
– Hand view: Used to assess skeletal age and the onset of puberty to determine growth potential.

PHOTOGRAPHS
Facial photos help us study facial symmetry, smile lines, lip posture, and muscle habits. Smile lines are essential for achieving an excellent result. Intra-oral photographs provide us with detailed views of the mouth to assess the teeth’s position and any staining or discoloration.

STUDY MODELS
We take models of your mouth to provide a true picture of how your bite functions. This is one of our most critical diagnostic tools.
Once we gather all the necessary information, we will arrange a treatment discussion to plan your orthodontic journey. During this discussion, the orthodontist will:
– Address any questions and concerns
– Explore alternative treatment options
– Provide an estimated treatment timeline
– You will also receive:
– A summary of your treatment plan
– A financial plan
– Medical aid motivation documents

Our administrative team will assist with any financial queries. We are here to help at every step!

We look forward to starting this orthodontic journey with you!
