Laser & TADs
Our practice offers soft-tissue laser treatment to painlessly remove gum tissue. It is primarily used to remove excessive gum tissue that is not necessary or to uncover teeth that are partially impacted, thus allowing a bracket or band to be placed and for the treatment, therefore, to be accelerated to obtain the best possible result.
The laser works by emitting concentrated energy in the form of a light beam. This beam vaporises matter. The dental laser delivers a narrow beam that vaporises only a specific number of cell layers that are contacted by the laser beam. This gives the operator precise control over the laser. The dental laser has the advantage of not creating unwanted surgical effects. The laser stops bleeding, seals nerve endings, and greatly reduces postoperative inflammation and associated discomfort.
The procedure consists of placing a topical anaesthetic (numbing gel), rinsing and drying the tissue, and then painlessly removing the unwanted gum tissue. The edges of the treated tissue return to a normal appearance in a couple of days.
In summary, the advantages of the soft-tissue laser are:
– Accelerates orthodontic treatment by allowing earlier access to impacted teeth.,
– Precise removal of tissue.
– Painless – since the nerve endings are sealed during the procedure.
– Bloodless – since the tissue is cauterized.
– Sterile – the laser tip sterilizes the procedure area.
– Quicker and more comfortable healing.

TADs (Temporary Anchorage Devices)
TADs (Temporary Anchorage Devices) are transitional mini-implants or screws that are an effective tool orthodontists use to help move teeth more quickly and accurately during treatment.
This new technology consists of mini-screws or mini-implants that are temporarily placed into the bones of the jaws to be used as non-mobile anchor units to facilitate tooth movement.
They are quite small and can be placed using simple local anaesthesia (numbing in the area). And once they’ve served their purpose, they are removed.
